San Diego Padres pitcher Ha-Sung Kim was given the day off after being hit in the knee by his own foul ball.
Kim missed the San Diego Padres’스포츠토토 2023 Major League Baseball (MLB) game against the New York Yankees on Sunday at Yankee Stadium in New York City.
Kim suffered an untimely injury the previous day (26) against the Washington Nationals. In his first at-bat of the second inning, he was hit in the left knee by his own foul ball and went down. After complaining of pain, he was helped off the field by a trainer, raising concerns of injury.
Fortunately, no major damage was done. X-rays revealed a simple bruise. He was rested the next day against the Yankees, but will be back on the field on the 28th. “He could be in the starting lineup for tomorrow’s game,” San Diego manager Bob Melvin said.
Kim told MLB.com, “I was really sick. It hurt bad. In fact, when I got hit by the first pitch, I thought the worst had happened.” “Fortunately, I got a good result. It was better than I expected,” he said, adding that he was relieved.
Meanwhile, San Diego, without Kim, won 5-1 against the Yankees on April 27. Juan Soto’s two-run homer in the first inning and Fernando Tatis Jr.’s two-run shot were the highlights.
