Lee Jae-kyung has gotten off to a strong start at the KB Financial Live Championship on the Korean Professional Golf Association (KPGA) Korean Tour.
Lee shot a 4-under 68 in the first round of the tournament at the par-72 Blackstone Golf Club in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do, on Friday. With just one bogey and five birdies, Lee started the tournament on a high note.
With top-10 finishes in her last three events, Lee is looking for her fourth top-10 finish of the season and her first win of the tournament. Lee’s performance on day one was nothing short of perfect. With the exception of a bogey on the fifth, she played steady over the next 17 holes to shoot 4-under par.
The key to her four-stroke victory was her putting. As in her previous three tournaments, Lee was sharp on the greens. “It was a good putt day,”먹튀검증 Lee said. On the eighth hole, I made a long putt of about 15 meters,” said Lee. “I didn’t make any short putts, so I played a comfortable first round. I just need to keep putting like I did today,” she emphasized.
She also cited her index finger grip as a reason for her recent success. “I switched to a forefinger grip in the second round of the Korea Championship and immediately finished in the top 10 in three consecutive tournaments,” Lee said, laughing, “It’s my destiny to have a forefinger grip that makes me feel comfortable when I go into an address.”
Lee, who has been uncharacteristically weak in this tournament, also said she was determined to finish strong. Lee, who missed the cut at this event in 2019, withdrew after shooting a 7-over-par 79 on the first day in 2021. “I’m hoping to play well this year after my poor performances at this tournament in 2019 and 2021,” said Lee, “I’m feeling good with my shots and putts. I will give it my all to make it to the top of the leaderboard once again.”
