Toronto Blue Jays visit the Rockies, struggle for three days, but at least they avoid the worst of it.

Toronto defeated the Colorado Rockies 7-5 on Thursday (April 4) at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado, USA.

The win concluded a three-game series against Colorado with a 2-1 edge. 75-62.

Despite the win, it was a close game against the National League’s weakest team.

Trailing 3-2 in the top of the fifth inning, the Rockies scored three runs, and in the process made a frowned upon play. With two outs, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a hard line drive to left field.

The ball didn’t clear the fence and hit the wall, but Guerrero Jr. thought it was a home run and didn’t sprint for it. As it turned out, he managed to get to second base on an error in left field, but it wasn’t a pretty sight.

Despite the disappointment, Guerrero Jr. still had a better game than the day before, going 2-for-2 with a solo home run and two RBIs.

The game came down to the ninth inning. With runners on first and second, Wee Merrifield and Ernie Clement hit back-to-back singles to score two runs. Closer Jordan Romano, who came on in the bottom of the ninth, struck out the side to end the inning.

Toronto starter Kevin Gausman went four innings, allowing three runs on six hits with three walks and five strikeouts. He was interrupted in the top of the fifth inning by a heavy rain delay that lasted about 59 minutes.

Chad Greene, who pitched a scoreless eighth inning, earned the win and his first victory since returning.

Rookie Spencer Horwitz recorded his first big league home run with a solo shot in the fourth inning and added an RBI single in the fifth, finishing 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
