Paulo Bento, former head coach of the national soccer team, has emerged as the new head coach of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Portuguese media Hecord reported 토토사이트순위 on the 8th (Korea Standard Time) that “Former South Korean national soccer team coach Bento is negotiating with UAE for the position of coach.”

If Bento takes the helm of the UAE, South Korea will face him in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup, which is set to open, and the 2026 FIFA North-Central America World Cup Asian qualifiers.

Bento was appointed as the head coach of the Korean national team in August 2018 after going through Sporting Lisbon (Portugal), the Portuguese national team, Cruzeiru (Brazil), Olympiacos (Greece), and Chongqing Ripan (China).

Bento led South Korea for a long time of four years and four months and beat Portugal at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, marking the first time in 12 years to advance to the round of 16.

After the tournament, he was offered a renewal of contract by the Korea Football Association, but he completed his trip due to differences in the contract period. Currently, Bento is taking a break in his home country of Portugal and preparing for his next move.

In February, the UAE gave the baton to Argentine coach Rodolfo Aruabarena. However, under coach Aruabarena’s system, the UAE is sluggish with four wins, three draws and seven losses in 14 games.
